About my work
My work has always been about creating unique and unusual images by letting my imagination flow and tapping into my own creative energy. I use video images and photography as a means of self-expression as a way to express how I see and feel the world around me. From the beginning the process of transforming images into a story has struck me as magical, and over the years, that magical process has had its way with me. I like experimenting with different techniques, it frees my imagination and provides many opportunities for happy accidents to influence the finished product.
I didn’t set out to produce art about one subject or another but as my portfolio developed and my work evolved over time it has opened up a world of new relationships, new beginnings, new chances and most importantly new stories! I never thought I would do documentary work but other people’s stories have inspired me to look in new directions and taught me that art is not just painting as I thought in the past and its a way of expressing your thoughts and feelings through words, color, movement, sound and image.
My work tends to focus on music but my current preoccupation is to make a documentary film that draws people into the now and provides an opportunity for young people to discover how important it is to live your dreams, believe in yourself and find ways of going after what you want in life, facing all the obstacles and learning from your own experience as well as other people’s lives.
My influences are first and foremost everything I see, feel and experience but I’ve always loved books, which strike out from the trodden paths of narrative themes to explore totally new vistas.
